Need a fountain? Please read this useful information.

We had an enquiry  " I need a fountain as for my trade show centre piece, I need it to be portable, I have a 1000w pump, I need nozzles and adaptors to fit my pump, I want it 6 feet tall "

If only it were that easy (Please read on)

First of all if a fountain is going to be 6 feet tall your pool must be 12 feet in diameter, this is to catch any splash / wind blown water, for more details see the JW rule So if your trade stand is only 8 x 10 feet it is not going to happen.

The pump, although we know its a 1kw pump what type of pump is it?

Not all pumps are the same, some pump high volumes of water to a low height, these make great waterfall pumps, but for a fountain you need a pump that can pump a reasonable volume of water to a tall height at a high pressure, by saying the pump is 1kw means absolutely nothing.

Then what nozzle pattern do you want? we cant just send you "any we have laying around" as we need to know what your pump can do and how can we connect to it if we do not know its output port size?

There are a whole variety of nozzle patterns from frothy to foaming to strait to rotating to the quietist lava (bell shape) nozzle, our nozzles can be seen on our page here Also some, not all nozzles need to be almost submerged in order to work properly, this is called level dependant, see here

You may also have a budget in mind, that's great, why don't you share it with us. By telling us your budget we are not going to say, have this this and this = exactly your budget, we use your budget as a guide to what we can suggest, For example, you want a 6m high jet and you do have a 14m diameter pool, and your budget is £600, we can tell you that your budget is too low, and we would offer alternatives.

I am not even going to mention musical or animated fountains, or lights, since there are so many  different options you can have.

So what do we need to know?

Budget, size of pool, if you have an existing pump, (everything you know about it), which nozzle(s) would you like, do you want lighting?
