Floating solar fountain

Floating solar fountains do exist, but they are for ponds NOT lakes, they are on average 30cm across, and a jet diameter of around 1mm which is by far too small for a lake. (Even too small for some ponds)

 We can supply solar fountains and floating fountains  but not floating solar fountains. (The big floating fountains use 3 phase electricity to give spectacular results)

There are several problems with a large floating solar fountain.

As it will be solar you first of all require a very efficient low voltage (12v) pump*, in order to have any pressure this pump will draw a lot of current, this brings us to the second problem, as it will require a lot of current it will require a lot of solar cells to provide the current, then if you want it to run at night you then have to have more solar cells to charge the batteries. Efficient solar panels are not cheap, and you may be looking at 15-30 of them depending on pump.

* It has to be around 12v as that is the most solar panels can supply, the small pond floating solar fountains work on around 3-5 v dc

We have been asked "Can we use an inverter?" (changes 12v dc to 230v ac) but this again will require a lot of solar cells, (to operate a big inverter and charge the batteries) Doing so also invalidates the warranty on our solar panels, also the cost of several solar panels makes the cost prohibitive.

In summing up, it is not cost effective for anyone to produce a floating solar fountain, as the cost will be more than it is worth, and it will be cheaper to install mains electricity.

It is possible to get solar operated pumps (we supply them) but not solar floating pumps, it is true that there are in very hot countries solar pumps for irrigation, but these cost tens of thousands of pounds, which is cheap compared to not being able to live in a hot region

As yet we do not know of a floating solar lake fountain (unless you want to tell us) so regretfully we can not supply you with a solar floating fountain. We can however supply a solar pump or a floating fountain
